Milwaukee WI - (February 8th) –The Milwaukee/NARI Home Improvement Council, Inc., the area’s leading home improvement and remodeling resource, will celebrate 50 years of service to the community by joining forces with Rebuilding Together Greater Milwaukee (RTGM) to make 50 homes safer and more accessible. Recipients of services include the elderly, disabled, military veterans, and families in need.

In observance of Milwaukee/NARI’s 50th Anniversary, RTGM and Milwaukee/NARI will be making accessibility modifications free of charge to residents of Milwaukee County in spring of 2012.

Examples of modifications/repairs:
- Nightlights/wireless switching
- Energy star light bulbs
- Non-skid tapes for stairs
- Grab bars
- Stair hand railings
- Hand shower
- Transfer benches/shower chairs
- Smoke /carbon monoxide detectors
- Removable non-skid mats for bathtubs and showers

Throughout the month of May, members of NARI will volunteer their time and expertise by
providing life changing home modifications to 50 homeowners in Milwaukee County.

America’s low-income homeowners are faced with daunting challenges in attempt to mange food and health care along with basic home maintenance, struggling to retain homeownership in neighborhoods,” said Dave Amoroso, president of the Milwaukee/NARI chapter, “Rebuilding Together makes it possible for homeowners to remain in safe and healthy homes, plus keep their independence and dignity. Milwaukee/NARI and its members are thrilled to give back in such a meaningful way to our community.”
