Providing comfort, warmth, and independence for low-income elderly and disabled homeowners

Dear Homeowner:

Thank you for your interest in Rebuilding Together Greater Milwaukee. Enclosed is an application. We ask that you please fill out the application and return it to:

Rebuilding Together Greater Milwaukee
P.O. Box 510287
Milwaukee, WI 53203

Rebuilding Together Greater Milwaukee (RTGM) is a non-profit organization that has been in Milwaukee since 2001. RTGM is part of a national program, headquartered in Washington D.C. On May 19, 2007, we rehabilitated 18 homes in Milwaukee County. This was a record number for us.

Our mission is to provide comfort, warmth and independence for low-income elderly and persons with disabilities who are homeowners by doing home improvements free of charge. This is made possible by generous organizations and businesses in Milwaukee County and Waukesha County who sponsor a house and provide volunteers to work on the house.

All of the improvements occur on one day called Rebuilding Day. Your application will be reviewed for Rebuilding Day in May, 2008. Because our program is volunteer-driven, we are unable to repair or replace roofs.

Applications must be received by October 1, 2007.

Applicants must be:

  1. A Single Family Homeowner in Milwaukee or Waukesha County (sorry no duplexes)
  2. Current on their taxes or on a payment plan.
  3. 60 years of age or older and low-income OR a person living with a disability and low-income.

Note: Priority is given to Elderly and Disabled homeowners. However, we will potentially consider families with children who are low-income. At this time, RTGM does not replace roofs or repair foundations.

We cannot promise you that we will be able to rehabilitate your home in May of 2008, but we will certainly review all of the applications in October of 2007 and will inform you of our decision for Rebuilding Day 2008 in March, 2008.

Please note you will be contacted for an interview in Novemeber 2007, only if your application has met all the guidelines outlined above. If you have questions or need help filling out the application, please call Eric Eberhardy, Project Manager or myself at 414-319-9828.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Sincerely,
Lynnea Katz-Petted
Executive Director
